Sondes are self-contained battery-operated transmitters that can be fitted to all Ritelite cobra rodding systems with the correct sonde adaptor. Sondes are ideal for finding the position of blockages by tracing the paths of pipes, drains, ducts and sewers. They are often used in conjunction with a cable locator.
The type of sonde you require will depend on the application. You will need to make sure you have the correct sonde adaptor fitted to your cobra rodding system, that the sonde has sufficient range, it’s suitable for the type of pipe you are working with, and that the frequency is the same as the frequency being transmitted by the locator you will be using.
This video shows how to correctly fit a sonde to a Cobra duct rod for duct locating and underground tracing applications. A sonde allows the position of the rod tip to be detected from above ground using a cable locator and signal generator such as a CAT and Genny.
