Ritelite launches new K41 LED area lighting solution

Ritelite’s latest innovative product, the K41 Area Lighting System was launched in November at Ticket To Innovate 2024. It offers users fantastic area illumination combined with huge energy savings and minimal light pollution.

The K41 portable area floodlighting system has three standard models to meet every application and budget and has been designed to respond to the growing demand for energy-efficient, sustainable, flexible lighting and power solutions for temporary works within the construction and rail sectors.

To understand more about the K41 product, we asked Marcus Batty, Ritelite Systems’ Managing Director and owner, the following questions.

Please provide an overview of the new K41 product.

The K41 is designed to be a highly flexible, large, wide-area lighting solution, engineered with Ritelite’s beam-controlled technology to ensure all the light created is directed onto the work area with minimised light pollution. This product also incorporates the latest automated light control technology optimising power efficiency by intelligently adjusting light output to meet on-site requirements, significantly reducing power consumption during a deployment.

Why was the K41 developed? What problem is it seeking to solve?

The K41, developed in collaboration with Speedy Hire, was designed to fill a gap between a large road towable tower light and the existing Ritelite portable range of K45-LITE  and K21 lights on tripods. The Speedy Hire rail team wanted a compact, high-output system that would be easy to transport and mobilise (very portable) but which required a minimum power input to allow users to string several lights together from one power source. The design concept was focused on achieving the maximum footprint for the minimum power ensuring environmentally sustainable credentials could be met.

What is innovative about it? How is it different to other products on the market and what benefits does it bring?

The K41 introduces a new level of innovation to the market, delivering a compact, efficient, and highly flexible lighting solution designed to meet the rail industry’s evolving needs on a night time worksite.

Key Innovative Features

Significantly lighter, more energy-efficient, and physically smaller than many competing products, the K41 offers clear advantages in both performance and practicality.

The K41 manages to create more area working light from less energy input. This new level of efficiency, aligns with the needs of modern, sustainable rail projects, a perfect partner where battery power is deployed.

The K41’s compact design makes transportation and deployment simpler and more efficient.

A standout feature of the K41 is its flexibility. The light can be adjusted to fixed angles of 180 or 360 degrees, but its design also allows for adjustment to any angle in between, ensuring lighting can be tailored to diverse site requirements making it adaptable to a wide range of applications.

A key innovation in the K41 is its incorporation of automation. With a dawn-to-dusk mode, users can set a required lux level with the press of a button. Once programmed, the unit memorises this setting and automatically activates when the ambient light drops below the specified threshold. This eliminates the need for manual intervention, ensuring the light is ready as soon as it gets dark.

For even greater automation, the K41 also offers a programmable microwave sensor. This enables customised operation for the required application. For example, the light can be set to operate at full power for 10 minutes upon activation, then reduce to a lower output (e.g., 10%) for a set duration before switching off entirely. This maximises both energy efficiency and operational control.

Designed with versatility in mind, the K41 can be mounted on a mast or suspended using a hanging hook,  making it ideal for use in confined or overhead spaces such as under building structures or within crane-operated work areas.

The K41 product’s innovations are purpose-driven to support battery-powered operation, enabling fully green, sustainable deployments. By significantly reducing power demand—both at full output and through automation—the K41 can achieve extended operating periods on a single battery-powered generator. This makes it a game-changer for environmentally sustainable deployments.

What type of projects/sites can it be used for?

The K41’s small, modular, and flexible design makes it suitable for a wide range of applications. Its compact size and lightweight construction allow for easy transportation—users can comfortably carry two units to a site and quickly set them up to light areas such as rail track access points or temporary welfare yards. This level of portability is a significant advantage compared to larger, heavier alternatives that are limited by size and weight restrictions.

The K41’s small footprint and versatile mounting options further enhance its flexibility. It can be attached to something as compact as a scaffold clamp, which can then be secured to an existing structure or container. This adaptability allows it to be deployed in areas with limited space or challenging configurations.

Additionally, the K41’s dimming and standby settings provide even greater functionality. For example, the light can be turned down to provide a low standby level to illuminate pathways, such as those leading to and from accommodation areas, ensuring safe navigation. It can then be adjusted to deliver full power when more light is required in a specific work zone.

While the K41 has clear benefits for the rail industry, its innovative design and versatility make it a universal lighting solution applicable to a wide range of industries, including construction and other sectors requiring portable, efficient, and adaptable lighting.

K41-S1

360°-180° configurable light system. Simple on / off control of the light with the light level able to be set to meet requirements via an integrated digital dimmer system from 0-100% brightness. 5M downlead fitted. 110V or 240V input available.
